Energy-Saving Tips

  • Lamps: You can lower overall energy demand by concentrating bright light where you need it rather than evenly lighting the entire room — this is called ‘task lighting'.
  • Curtains: Keep curtains and blinds closed during the hottest part of the day in the summer and open blinds on sunny winter days.
  • Lights: Always turn off the lights when you leave a room.
  • Thermostat: Install a programmable thermostat with a built-in timer. Lower the heat by a few degrees at night and turn off the air conditioner or furnace when you're not home
