Energy-Saving Tips
- Fridge: Let leftovers cool before putting them in the fridge.
- Curtains: >Keep curtains and blinds closed during the hottest part of the day in the summer and open blinds on sunny winter days.
- Microwave: Whenever possible, use the microwave instead of your stove or oven — smaller appliances use less energy.
- Sink: Tighten your faucets to prevent drips — a leaky tap can waste 10,000 litres of water per year.
- Oven: Cover your pot to bring water to a boil faster. Turn off the oven just before finishing — the oven will remain hot long enough to complete the job.
- Dishwasher: Don't pre-rinse your dishes. Turn the dishwasher on after 9pm to avoid peak energy hours.
- Dishes: Air dry your dishes instead of using your dishwasher's drying cycle.
