Ontario Flag

The Red Ensign has been Ontario's flag since 1965. The Union Jack is on the left. Ontario's Shield of Arms is on the right.

The Union Jack represents Britain, which founded the first colonies. It is the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

A ‘Jack' is actually a small flag that flies from the bow of a ship. The Union Jack is properly called the Union Flag. ‘Union Jack' was the name that stuck.
