Eastern White Pine

The Eastern White Pine has been Ontario's official tree since 1984. Pioneers relied on its timber and it remains an important resource today.

This tree is the tallest in Eastern North America. Some live over 250 years. You'd recognize it on rocks overlooking our many lakes and in paintings by the Group of Seven.

Did you know?
There are only a few remaining virgin stands of White Pine in the world. One of them is in Algonquin Park and a second is in Algoma Highlands Conservancy.
