The Great Seal

The Great Seal
The Great Seal is considered the emblem of her majesty, The Queen. It is used on documents issued in the name of The Queen. These include proclamations and the appointment of the executive council, ministers and other senior appointments.
The Great Seal incorporates the Shield of Arms beneath the Royal Coat of Arms, surmounted by a Crown. Appointed by Her Majesty Queen Victoria, it has been in use since January 1, 1870 and is carved in stone above the main entrance to the Legislative Buildings at Queen's Park.
